Iconic Nubble Lighthouse (officially Cape Neddick Light) with its signature Fresnel lens is located in York, Maine. It began service in 1879 and is still active today, though the keeper no longer lives in the house. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Famous worldwide, an image of The Nubble has been traveling through outer space since the 1970s on the Voyager Spacecraft's Golden Record - a time capsule - as one example of prominent natural and man-made features that can be found on earth.
