America's first national park, Yellowstone is, of course, famous for its many fantastic hydrothermal features but is also unique in that it is a nearly intact ecosystem. Within the park's roughly 3,500 square miles you'll find diverse wildlife, canyons, forests, rivers, and the massive Yellowstone Lake. The supervolcano which lies beneath the Yellowstone Caldera generates frequent seismic activity and creates the geothermal wonders for which Yellowstone is best known.
